HBHS Old Boys making their mark in World Cycling
Since leaving us, our recent HBHS Old Boy cyclists have been achieving some fantastic results around the world. Sam Gaze (in action, right), who will represent New Zealand at the Commonwealth Games alongside our 2016 Sportsman of the Year and Under 19 World Champion gold medal-winner Jared Gray, recently stunned the cycling world with a victory over world champion Nino Schurter who had been all but unbeatable in the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup competition. For more on Sam's achievement click here. Our 2015 Captain of Cycling Matias Fitzwater has headed to Europe along with Nick Reddish, Sam Hobbs and Ryan Christensen to compete as members of the New Zealand Under 23 team. HBHS riders make up nearly half of this team, and we will be following their progress, along with Sam and Jared at the upcoming Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. Good luck to our riders and congratulations on all that they have achieved. Kia kaha.
