HBHS Old Boys Shine on National Sporting Stage
It was a bumper weekend of summer sport, and it proved to be a successful one for three of our recent Old Boys. New Zealand Sevens players Joe Webber and Regan Ware played important roles in the Wellington Sevens win on Sunday, with Webber (pictured, right) scoring a tournament winning try in New Zealand's last play to grab the 24 - 21 win. It was an unlikely result with New Zealand being down 21 - 7 early in the second half due to some crucial errors, and an encouraging one with the team heading to Sydney this week and the Rio Olympics looming later in the year. Meanwhile in Auckland, Mitchell Santner (pictured, right) hit two boundaries in the last over of a rain-affected ODI against Pakistan to finish off the series with two wins from two with the Chappell-Hadlee series beginnning this Wednesday. Santner gave the crowd (and television audience) some jitters after several swings amd misses but eventually put away the all-important four with two deliveries remaining. We congratulate our HBHS Old Boys on these fine results and look forward to following their progress as the summer sports season continues.
