HBHS Marks 100 Years Since the Beginning of WWI

HBHS senior staff and school prefects began this week with a morning ceremony to mark the 100th anniversary of the beginning of WWI, and to acknowledge New Zealand's contribution to "the war to end all wars".  Never before, and not since, had soldiers travelled so far to fight for their country, and HBHS lowered the New Zealand flag that flies above our school to half mast as a sign of respect to honour all those who sacrificed so much during the four years of WWI.  Captain of Arts, Patrick Webb, played "The Last Post" as the flag was lowered in a fitting tribute that was heard all around the school.
