HBHS Inline Hockey team win New Zealand Secondary Schools Championships
Our Inline Hockey team returned from Nelson having successfully defended their New Zealand Secondary Schools title over the weekend. The team went into the tournament arguably as underdogs, having lost a number of very experienced players at the end of last year, and other experienced players making themselves unavailable. With a brand new goal-keeper, the team found themselves in the final up against a Nelson side which was understandably supported by a large and vocal crowd. The game was the very definition of a nail-biter and with scores equal, the Nelson side scored with 11 seconds on the clock. However, the goal was disallowed and the match went into golden goal overtime, with the HBHS side managing to score to take the title. We congratulate the team on their very hard-fought win and thank our Teacher in Charge of Inline Hockey, Mrs Joanne Wallace for her tireless and enthusiastic support of our HBHS sportsmen.
