HBHS Golf Team win the Waikato Intercollegiate Championships
On Monday 16 May our golf team had only one round in which to play to decide who would be Waikato Champions for 2016. HBHS were up against the reigning national champions, St Peter’s Cambridge and a strong Cambridge High School side. Our team shot one of the best ever combined team scores of 8 under to win, which was 15 shots lower than the St Peter’s score. The standout performers on the day were Tyler Wood (Year 12) who shot a round of 65 which is seven under par for the course and was recognised as the best Waikato Secondary School golfer for 2016. Sam Brinkworth (Year 12) shot a round of 68 which is his lowest ever score and the best Net Score of 65 for the tournament (Score minus Handicap). James Fellows-Ford (Year 12) was the third counting score in our team with a score of 75 which was a solid performance from the 2016 HBHS Golf Captain. This win means that HBHS are now off to the New Zealand Championships in Nelson this September for the first time in two years, and after their win over St Peter's they will potentially be title contenders.
