HBHS Development Win David Hoskins 1st XI Cup
On Saturday the 27th October the HBHS Development cricket team travelled to Matamata College to play their 1st XI team in the first 50 over game of the season.
Matamata were the current holders of the David Hoskins Secondary 1st XI Cup.
HBHS bowled the hosts out for 138 runs in 43 overs with Renay Meadows taking 3 wickets for 19 runs with Cooper Rowell and Stephen Reddin taking 2 wickets each.
HBHS past their total when Chris Steegs hit 2 runs with 2 balls left in the match, and were delighted to claim the Hoskins trophy for the first time for the school.
The competition for this trophy was first played for in 2001 and it is the first time that HBHS have ever held the cup.
HBHS has played in many games over that period of time and have never before had their hands on the silver ware.
It was even more reason for excitement for this team, as there are 7 Year 10s playing, 3 Year 11s and have the two Year 13s, Stephen Reddin and Liam Verry. These two boys have led from the front.
A great team effort to take this game out as Matamata are a genuine 1st XI team of their best Year 13 cricketers, a number of whom play representative cricket for WaikatoValley.
