HBHS Development Cricket Team win Waikato Secondary Schools Division 1 Final

The HBHS Development team played St Peter's Cambridge in the Waikato Secondary Schools Division 1 cricket final on Saturday. HBHS won the toss and elected to bowl first. St Peter's made a solid start but a brilliant spell from seamer Declan O'Brien turned the match. He finished with figures of 5 for 26 and was well supported by Zac Corban and Cory Gabolinscy who took 2 wickets each to restrict St Peter's to 135. William Muldowney played with a mixture of power and composure to ensure it wouldn't be a nervous chase and his 72 not out took HBHS to a 7 wicket victory. This is the first time HBHS has won the Division 1 cricket competition for a number of years and the Development players have been well rewarded with 3 players, captain Hamish Mellow, Jake Russ and Kristian Clarke, now joining the 1st XI for their National tournament down in Lincoln.
