HBHS Clay Target Shooting team start the year strong

The first inter-school circuit shoot of the season went very well for the HBHS Clay Target Shooting team and individuals. Returning to the Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty inter-school circuit with nearly the same A squad as 2018 added pressure and expectations both within the team as well as from many of the other schools and competitors who made it their business to come and watch HBHS start the day with their first round of single rise (2 shots to hit 1 target).

With only 4 targets dropped from 125 targets and 2 shooters shooting clean, It was obvious that the team could achieve great results for the day if they could hold their composure. By the end of the day, Andrew Wilson had shot all 3 events clean winning the individual event outright from a field of 121 shooters.  Ethan Rendall placed 5th and Jake Lumsden placed 10th. Two of the B Squad who are first-year shooters also placed in the new shooter category, with  Jack Godden finishing 1st new shooter, shooting an impressive 82/90 points and Tim Lumsden 3rd with 77/90.

Waiuku College Team managed to equal HBHS with their single rise score requiring the 2 teams to shoot off until a result was achieved.  HBHS shot first hitting all their targets putting the pressure on Waiuku College to have to match to stay in the hunt, unfortunately, they dropped their 5th target resulting in HBHS bringing back the trophy to start their 2019 season.
