HBHS Clay Target Shooting Team Defend Super 8 Trophy at North Island Championships
During the Term 2 break, the HBHS Clay Target Shooting team competed in the North Island Secondary School Clay Target Championships in which the Super 8 trophy was contested over the three disciplines shot in "down the line". The A squad consisting of Andrew Wilson, Harrison Brown, Jed Pirritt, Ethan Rendall and Nathaniel Aitchison competed in fine conditions over the two days and just missed out of the placings for the top 3 teams from the 38 teams represented. They were just one point down from second-equal seeing them miss out on the shoot-off for second and third place.
In the Super 8 category which is counted across all three disciplines shot including the teams' event, HBHS top-scored along with Tauranga Boys' College, defending the trophy. In Clay Target Shooting this is the first time HBHS has defended the Super 8 trophy and only the third time the school has won it. Clay Target Shooting looks to be in good hands as the school picks up their third teams trophy of the season.
Putaruru Circuit Shoot:
Last week the HBHS Clay Target team competed in the second-to-last circuit shoot before they head to Christchurch for the Secondary Schools Nationals at the end of the term. The A squad placed third overall as a team out of 27 squads while individual results saw Jake Lumsden (Year 10) placed second in the juniors with a very good score of 83/90, and Andrew Wilson and Jed Pirrett finish equal 4th on 86/90 in the senior category. Well done team and good luck for your next shoot.
Thanks to Mr Scott Wilson for the photography and reporting.
