HBHS Chess Team Win in Waikato Open Chess Tournament

This past weekend a number of HBHS juniors participated in the B section of the Waikato Open Chess Tournament. This is the section in which most Adult Chess Club members would participate. Although their opponents generally had a lot more experience than our boys, the HBHS contingent showed good skill and plenty of willingness to learn.  Ben Wright and Max Stephens (pictured, right) were placed joint 2^nd in their rating category. Eushin Kang (in action, right) had a very successful tournament winning his category prize, winning the William Lynn Cup for the Best Club Junior and sharing overall First place in the B section.  Congratulations to all our players!
