HBHS Athletics Team reign supreme at Zones Athletics Competition

Last week at the Zones Athletics Competition, held at Porritt Stadium on Tuesday, you would have been hard-pressed to spot anything other than HBHS red and black on the medal podium in the boys' events.  The HBHS Athletics team came away with 20 gold medals, 18 silvers and 15 bronze placings, as well as a new record of 48.99 seconds in the Junior 4 x 100m relay, which beat the existing record by nearly a second.  In a number of events it was all HBHS, with our athletes finishing first, second and third in the Senior 3000m, and first, second, third and fourth in the 1500m event.  Our Intermediate 1500m runners took out first, second, fifth and eighth, whilst our Junior Sprinters took out first, second and third in both the 100m and 200m events.  Congratulations to all of our athletes on their achievements and we look forward to seeing how well they fare in the Waikato Bay of Plenty Championships to be held this weekend.  Thank you to Teacher in Charge of Athletics Mr Rodney de Klerk for this report.
