HBHS 1st XV versus Wesley - the match report
HBHS 1st XV are through to the quarter finals after beating a very physical Wesley College side 29 -10. After both teams exchanged very emotional hakas, the first half saw a largely dominant Hamilton Boys side. The first try was scored by Paula Narawa who's been in fine scoring form of late but Sam Chongkit should take as much credit, running a good line and showing pace before giving a final pass to Paula. Hamilton continued to look threatening when they spread the ball through the back line and managed one more try before the break. Wesley College came back strong in the second half with tight forward play but Hamilton Boys' were determined to maintain their healthy lead and held the opposition in front of their try line for the most part of the second half. Eventually Wesley College got a try to show for their efforts but HBHS hit right back and with Bryn Gatland converting from the corner, Wesley hadn't enough time or energy to come back. HBHS looked the fitter and more prepared side and can go into next week's game with confidence. (Photo supplied by Mrs Barbara Clark).
