HBHS 1st XI Hockey win Waikato Secondary Schools Competition in a nail-biter
In a hard-fought, see-sawing match, the HBHS 1st XI Hockey team finally prevailed against their closest rivals St Paul's 3 - 2 courtesy of a penalty stroke in injury time. The match was tight from the very start, with HBHS scoring first, only to have St Paul's equalise within minutes, and then go 2 - 1 up into half time. HBHS scored again, in a match where 3 penalty strokes were awarded, and then relentlessly attacked the St Paul's goal in the final minutes of the game. Finally the pressure told, and HBHS took the win right on full time against a St Paul's team that have tested them throughout the season. Congratulations to the team on their win, and these tight encounters have given the side valuable match experience for later in the season.
