HBHS 1st XI Cricket Team make Super 8 Final

The HBHS 1st XI Cricket team have been away in Gisborne this week contesting the first of the Super 8 competitions of 2016.  A default by Rotorua Boys' High School gave them their first win on Monday and they followed this with a 98 run win over Napier Boys' High School.  Batting first, HBHS made 269 for 6 then bowled Napier out for 171.  Wednesday saw a very tight and low-scoring game, with HBHS setting Tauranga Boys' College 99 to win.  The HBHS bowlers were then able to get through Tauranga for 79, putting HBHS into the final against New Plymouth Boys' High School.  The weather then put a stop to any play, and the final was washed out.  It will now be contested as part of the annual summer sports exchange against New Plymouth Boys' High School which will be held on Monday 22 February and Tuesday 23 February at HBHS.
