Football Knock Out Cup Results

Hamilton Boys' High Scool capped off another wonderful season on Saturday with a clean sweep of the Waikato Secondary Schools Knockout Cup finals. The day started with a win to the HBHS Junior Gold team in the junior B division, edging out the HBHS Junior Black boy 1-0. This was followed by another "all-HBHS encounter", when in the senior B final HBHS Scarlet defeated HBHS Silver 1-0, courtesy of a Thomas Clayton long-range strike late in the game. The Scarlet-Silver contest in Senior Dvision 1 has been a close run affair all season, and the cup final certainly lived up to the pre-game hype, with end to end football throughout the 80 minutes.

In the Junior A final, our Year 9 Colts A Team defeated the Year 10 Colts B team in an excellent showcase of HBHS junior football. The finale of the day was the Senior Premier Knockout Cup Final. HBHS 1st XI (pictured) were hot favourites to claim the trophy and a 7-0 win against Cambridge HS 1st XI underlined the dominance of our 1st XI in this region. This victory complements a 12th consecutive WSSFA Division 1 title for the school. In total, HBHS won 9 and came runners up in 6 divisions of the WSSFA Competition. The 32 team HBHS football programme code is one of the largest secondary school sporting programes in the country.
