Drama Field Trip

Each year Colin Leach, the head of the Drama department at Hamilton Boys’ High organizes a trip to see an outstanding play held at The Auckland University Theatre. And with each year the productions have only gotten better. On the 1st March Mr. Leach and 50 Boys’ High students from the year groups 11,12 and 13 took a bus to Auckland to go and see The Motor Camp, a production written by David Armstrong.  The students joined groups from other schools as well, and it is fair to say The Motor Camp was a hit. Throughout the whole performance the audience was in stitches. And after the show the laughter carried on outside where students reenacted their favorite parts. As a small treat to the dedicated boys, Mr. Leach planned a lunch stop in at Mercer on the way home.

Overall the day was an extremely fun and educational one. The students were able to watch a professional stage performance, and see where their love of the theatre could lead them, and even a thought of where they too could perform in front of and entertain young thespians like themselves.
