Clout wins Bronze at Nationals
Paul Clout competed in the State New Zealand Senior Surf Life Saving Championships on 16-18 March 2012, which were held at Midway Beach in Gisborne.
This season Paul moved to the Whangamata club, to be coached by Daniel Grant.
Paul has enjoyed having a coach and training with a group of like-minded athletes of his own age. He is now competing in the U16 age group. This has been a mixed season, but he topped it off with a bronze medal in the U16 Beach Relay at Nationals in Gisborne. Paul ran first, with a fantastic sprint that held up a very, very close second to Red Beach. The team smoothly transitioned through their batton changes and were in fourth place by a whisker when Hamish Barclay took the baton for the sprint of his life, to pip the Mt Maunganui team on the finish line!
