Clay Target Shooting Update
The HBHS Clay target shooting team attended its fourth shoot of the season at hosted by Matamata College at their local gun club. There were 27 teams, with 135 shooters in attendance. After failing to place at their last school shoot in May the team was focused for the challenge ahead.
Shooting early in the day's order and in fine conditions, the boys were able to put a respectable score of 282/300 on the board for the other teams to chase. They nervously watched on as their main rivals Tauranga Boys' College and Hauraki Plains College both fell short of the target set and held on to win the team event by 2 points ahead of St Paul's Collegiate.
The A squad are Jed Pirrit, Ethan Rendall, Harrison Brown (C), Andrew Wilson and Nathaniel Aitchison.
Three HBHS boys shot well individually during the day picking up places in the top three. Jed Pirrit was first in the Senior competition, Andrew Wilson right behind him in second and Jake Lumsden finished first in the Junior competition. Congratulations to all HBHS shooters and good luck in three weeks time for the North Island Championships.
