Centennial Sporting Events

A number of Old Boys dusted off their boots and returned to HBHS to play each other, and current students, during the Centennial.  The games, as a rule, were highly competitive, due to the large number of Boys' High alumnus who have gone on to play professionally in their respective codes.  Many of the players commented that high school competitions, and in particular 1st XV and first XI competitions, were the most satisfying games they have played in their careers. Our current students watched the games with rapt attention, savouring the chance to see some of their heroes in action at close quarters.

Competition results:

Friday Touch: Old Boys 11 v Current Students 2

Saturday Rugby: Old Boys Black 15 v Old Boys Red 15, Recent Old Boys 32 v 2011 1st XV 24

Saturrday Football: Old Boys Red 4 v Old Boys Black 1

Saturday Hockey: Old Boys Red 4 v Old Boys White 4

An aftermatch function was held in the school hall on Saturday afternoon.  Presentations and speeches were mades, and a fundraising auction was held to assist the 1st XV in their defense of the Sanix World Championship next term.  We would like to thank everyone that made themselves available (and put their bodies on the line) to participate in this important part of our Centennial celebrations.
