Bumper Crop of Trophies and Titles on display at today's Senior Assembly

Wednesday's Senior Assembly was the first since the practice examinations and as can be seen in our stage photos, there was much to be celebrated.  On the stage was a collection of trophies that had been won by HBHS sports teams and athletes, along with the New Zealand Federation of Young Farmers trophies recently won by Year 13 student William Robertson (pictured, alongside the New Zealand Young Farmers Senior Territory Manager Ms Casey Huffstutler, MP for Hamilton East the Honourable Mr David Bennett and Headmaster Mrs Susan Hassall) who was also congratulated today.  The HBHS trophy cabinet now contains the Rugby 2nd XV Super 8 shield, the Rugby 1st XV Super 8 shield (shared with Hastings Boys' High School), the John Boe Cup for Waikato Rugby Under 16 winners, the Andrew Strawbridge Cup for Waikato Rugby Under 15 winners, the Soccer Challenge Cup won by the HBHS 2nd XI, the ABC Football School Cup for the Waikato Secondary Schools Premier competition won by the HBHS 1st XI, the Super 8 Hockey shield and the Tricolor Trophy and Ian Foster Shield for the Waikato Division 1 1st XV champions won by the (mighty) HBHS Colts team.  We congratulated our other title-winning rugby teams who finished their competitions, the Senior White team who won the Premier Division 3 title (24 - 17 over Senior Silver) and the Under 65kg Red team who beat out Cambridge. Our Premier Basketball team finished as runners up in their Super 8 competition, as did our Under 14B Rugby team in their Waikato competition.  Bradley Cullen and Connor Tristram were congratulated on their silver medal as runners-up in the New Zealand Secondary Schools Team Duathlon Championships held in Pukekohe earlier this month.  Finally we congratulate our latest New Zealand representatives. Brandon Fletcher (Year 11) will compete in China in the New Zealand Under 19 Junior Men's Inline Hockey team later this month, Caleb Cutmore (Year 11) will head to Japan in the New Zealand Junior Surfing team as the Under 16 representative and Raukawa Jefferies (Year 12) and Liam Singer (Year 12) will represent New Zealand in Karate at the World Karate Federation Junior Championships in Spain.  Congratulations once again to each and everyone of the representatives, athletes and teams on this truly outstanding list of achievements.  Kia kaha to you all.
