Books for Fiji

On Tuesday 22 September, another very successful "Books for Fiji" mufti day was held at school, cementing this event as an annual fixture in the school's calendar. Organised by the International Students department, HBHS pupils were invited to donate two suitable books each, in lieu of paying the $2 mufti day fee.

Students from all levels in the school streamed into the Hall during morning registration to deliver their books, and within minutes, the tables were groaning under the weight

of hundreds of new and well loved texts. The books ranged from reference books, academic books and the latest novels, to delightful hard-backed children's books. All of these are guaranteed to bring a great deal of pleasure to many students in both primary and secondary schools in Fiji.

The books will be transported to Fiji with the assistance of the Fairfield Rotary Club in

Hamilton, and the Taveuni Rotary club in Fiji.

Mrs Thornton, the Dean of International students, would like to thank all of those who so

generously supported this event.
