2nd XV Claim Super 8 Title in Style
On Saturday the 12 of August the HBHS 2nd XV Red team secured the Super 8 2nd XV title in a physical battle against the New Plymouth BHS 2nd XV. With neither team giving an inch at the the start, HBHS broke the opposition's line in the 12th minute, scoring a long range try from their 10 metre line. From that point forward it was a masterclass performance from the local boys, who put 40 unanswered points on the board before New Plymouth could trouble the scorers.
A 26-0 score at the half might have given the Taranaki team a chance to plug some gaps in the second stanza, but HBHS was having none of it. They took off once again with a fast and exciting start to the second half, running in another 2 tries before New Plymouth rersponded with two consolation tries of their own in the last 15 minutes, making the final score 40-12.
Co-Captains Dion Keogh and Nicolas Jeffcoat would like to thank the team for the massive effort they have made to win the Super 8 shield. They also want to acknowledge coaches Mr Logan Asplin and Mr Mita Graham for giving up their time all season to ensure the boys had the chance to realise their 2017 goal.
