2014 HBHS Golf Championships

On Thursday 13 February, the HBHS golf team took to the St Andrew's Golf Course in order to compete for a place in this year's Super 8 team.  Teacher in Charge of Golf, Mr Brendon Cooley, reports on the tournament...

It was certainly an important day for the golfers, as there are only 8 spots available in the Super 8 team.  The junior boys were competing to see who would take out the Junior Cup in 2014, and it was the first stage in the Senior Cup competition, which will be decided on performances over the year to encourage consistency.  A total of 34 boys from all year levels took to the course, which was in excellent condition, despite yet another dry summer.  The best score of the day went to Sam McGovern (Year 12) who shot 74 to win by two shots from Isaac Butcher (Year 11), with 2014 Captain of Golf Bayley Waudby (pictured in action at right) another shot back in third place.  The best junior golfer in 2014 is James Fellows-Ford (Year 10) who shot a round of 82.  Thank you to St Andrew's for hosting us, and congratulations to all of the boys who competed so well, and I encourage you to keep competing to push for those intercollegiate team spots later in the year.  The Elite Golf Teams for 2014 are as follows:

Team 1: Team 2: Team 3:
Bayley Waudby Max Gabolinscy Sam Brinkworth
Sam McGovern Maxwell Palmer Tyler Wood
Isaac Butcher Matthew Davis Michael Jones
James Fellows-Ford Bodie Hodges Tori Van Straalen
