2010 HBHS Head Boy Adam Burn

It has been fantastic to be Head Boy at such a great school. The main responsibilities I’ve undertaken this year have been providing leadership and support for the students and prefects that I work with. There aren’t any set jobs as such, which means that you are at everyone’s service for different things. I’ve had a chance to learn to run meetings effectively, as well as help out where necessary.

The prefects meet every Monday for about half an hour. The bulk of our duties involve organization – organizing Spirit Week, mufti days, interactions with other schools, and the more mundane jobs like litter duty supervision and helping out in the Dean’s room.

Highlights of the year have to include the ball. The ball was great – I really enjoyed going to that; it was a wonderful event.

If I had any recommendations for next year’s Head Boy, it would be to pay really close attention to what is going on. It’s going to be very busy with the different term times and the Centennial. Just be yourself, and make sure that you are aware of the people that are helping you to be your best. I’d like to say thank you to my family, Mrs Hassall, Mr Robinson, Mr Hotham and Mr Kirkham for their support this year. It has been a really great experience.
