1st XV win Super 8 for 4th Consecutive Time

On Saturday the 1st XV completed their recent dominance of the Secondary Schools’ Super 8 competition and retained the Moascar Cup by defeating Hastings Boys 57 – 8 at Hamilton. Hooker Sefo Setefano scored three tries and was a dominant force in the match. Equally impressive was the kicking and general play of 1st 5 Nathan George who kicked 6 conversions, several from the sideline into the wind. Up 35 -3 at halftime, the young Hamilton side utilized their entire bench in the 2nd half and still managed to score regularly.  Adam Tolua was all aggression at No. 8 and scored twice. Other tries were scored by Ben Cottle, Joseph Webber and impressive winger Stephen Cullingworth (2).

The success in Super 8 is even more impressive considering only 3 players had returned to Hamilton Boys’ 1st XV from the national title winning side of 2008. The team now plays for the Chiefs Championship against traditional rivals Wesley College at Wesley on Saturday at 11.00am and Rotorua BHS at Hamilton BHS on Wednesday August 26th.
