1st XI Challenge Shield

On Saturday 25 August Hamilton Boys' High School's 1st XI Football team went one step closer to claiming all three trophies in the WSSFA Senior Premier competition with a 1-0 win over arch-rivals St Peters. The win guaranteed the 1st XI its place in the Knockout Final against Cambridge High School on Saturday 22 September. The team has already wrapped up its 12th consecutive Premier League title - an astounding record given the strong footballing competition in the region.

The win last Saturday also meant that St Peters had to hand over the WSSFA Challenge Shield to HBHS captain Gavin Gilbert. A win for Gilbert and his team in the KO Cup final will lock the shield and cup away for another year. The winning goal came from attacking midfielder James Davies. Central midfielder Stefan Krystman also celebrated his 50th cap for the 1st XI with another outstanding performance. The team travels to Nelson on Sunday for the NZSS Football Premier Tournament.
