HBHS Winter Sport Reminders to Students & Caregivers

Dear Parents/Guardians

The winter sports season is now underway. Thank you to our teachers in charge of codes for working hard to ensure our boys are engaged in a range of winter activities.

A big thank you to our teachers, parents and wider community, including our Hamilton BHS senior students for volunteering to coach or manage our school teams. We would not be able to offer the extensive co-curricular programme we provide without your support.

Some reminders for students and parents:

Hamilton Boys’ High School players must:

  • Represent the school with pride by turning up to their playing venue wearing their school jacket and tracksuit bottom over the top of their playing uniform. No mufti allowed.

  • Wear a school cap or black cap - not a non-regulation cap.

  • Wear the correct playing uniform, which can be purchased at the school shop, including mouthguards.

  • Abide by the school dress rules i.e. no jewellery, no necklaces, no earrings etc to be worn

  • Show respect to the referee/umpire and the opposition players.

  • Comply with our ‘Code of Conduct for Players’ (see attached).

  • Display sportsmanship at all times whether winning or losing by large margins.

Our Parents/Guardians of Hamilton Boys’ High School supporting their son must:

  • Comply with the ‘Code of Conduct for Parents & Supporters’ (see attached).

  • Support their son without criticising the official on the field/court.

  • Provide a positive model of how to act and behave during a game.

General matters

  • Parents and supporters parking is in the large car-park coming into the school off Argyle Street. Directions: Drive in through the Argyle entrance gates, past the hostel and up past the school pool. On the left side of the pool surrounds there is a carpark for 60+ vehicles. This car park is under-utilised currently but is perfectly situated for teams playing on the back fields. This will relieve a lot of congestion in the car-park off Peachgrove Road and will guarantee you a park without waiting.

  • Please note that if you are playing rugby at Hamilton BHS on a Saturday morning, there is a Duty Prefect around the back of the gymnasium who will direct you to your changing and playing venue, and will be able to answer any questions for you.

  • Water bottles can be filled at the back entrance to the gym or the side of the Pavilion.

  • There is a visitors toilet located at this entrance and also on the corner of the Pavilion.

Thank you for your continued support and I wish you all the very best for a successful season ahead.

Mr Murray McKenzie
Director of Sport
Hamilton Boys’ High School
